Archaeologist Tools
If you have a sand table outside, or just have a tub for sand that you can keep at your sink area, as part of your math and science center, you'll love this idea. Give kids their own "archaeologist tool kits" by using the "spork" sets the cafeteria gives out at lunch (see example above).
Did you know that the "spork" is an ideal digging tool? Kids can use the straw to gently blow away sand from their "finds". A napkin can also be used to remove sand from the "artifacts". If you carefully cut open the bag, it can be used to wrap items, too. You can bury all sorts of items for kids to discover in the sand, such as: toy dinosaurs, "fossils", plastic letters and numbers, rocks, and more!
